The Map Room, Franschhoek village

The Map Room – sleeps up to 4

A romantic bolt-hole for two intrepid travellers or four roving adventurers.

This unusual airy accommodation is arranged over two floors with the bedrooms downstairs and the expansive living area upstairs, accessed through a spiral staircase. The upper terrace, which wraps its arms around the sociable kitchen and living area, is the perfect spot to drink in the mountain views along with a glass of wine or two.

The Map Room is located on one of the oldest and grandest streets of Franschhoek: Cabriere Street. This section of the street is one of the last remaining dirt tracks in the village, retaining its ‘agricultural’ feel, where tractors still ply the track.

Bedrooms at The Map Room

The entrance hall provides access to the bedrooms and guest bathroom doubles up as a guest loo. A spiral staircase provides access to the living area upstairs.

Downstairs is the gargantuan master bedroom with inbuilt sultan’s bath leading into an en-suite ‘wet-room’ with shower, loo and basin. There is a ceiling fan above the bed and heating panels on the walls. The second en-suite bedroom can be made up as a twin or a king-size bed. They both have in-built cupboards.

Living and dining at The Map Room

Upstairs is the watering hole, grazing area and place to kick off your thousand-milers. Expansive and open plan kitchen/living room and dining area with a wood fireplace. Flat-screen TV with DSTV, DVD and a classic movie collection. Perfect for unwinding after a long attack at the local vineyards, or a gorging meal at one of the many local restaurants.

Six folding doors open onto the deck with a Weber barbecue, table and chair, looking out over the vineyards and mountains.

There is a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine.
